Daleem

This is one of my fave fave fave dishes I can eat it everyday . I have 2 versions of this, one haleem made at my inlaws end with broken wheat in a very different way and one khichda made at mom’s place which is made with whole wheat in a completely different way . Today I’m sharing haleem recipe made with broken wheat (lapsi) you can use the same recipe with whole wheat as well . Will share my mom’s recipe also soon inshallah . Both recipes are very different in taste and procedure.

Soak 250 gm lapsi in a  bowl for few hrs , in another bowl wash and soak one fist each of rice , toor dal , chana dal , masoor dal , urad dal , yellow moong dal . And soak for few hrs.

In a pressure cooker cook 500 -750 gm of chicken / mutton with 4 glass water and salt, 1 tbsp of ginger paste ,1 tbsp  garlic paste and 1 tbsp green chilli paste . Cook till done .
Take a big vessel and put the soaked lapsi and dals a long with the stock from the chicken/ mutton (shread the meat into big chunks and keep aside)
Add 6 tomatoes finely chopped , add 1 tbsp ginger paste and 2 tbsp garlic paste , some chopped coriander  and mint , 1 packet of shaan haleem masala and 1 tsp haldi powder (If u like more spicy add red chilli powder, dhanya , zeera , garam masala. This version at my end is made less spicy just with with packet masala) . Salt and cook covered till the lapsi and dals are completely cooked keep stirring and adding water as needed . Grind slightly with hand blender and  add  crushed  barista of 4 onions , juice of 2 limes , 1 tsp grated ginger and mix in the shreaded meat. Cook for 5 min and spread lots of chopped  kothmir phudina on top. Heat the oil in which you made barista till very hot , put 2 tbsp ghee , 1 tsp zeera and pour this baghar on top of the haleem . Mix well and cook 5-7 mins and serve hot with topping of extra barista , lime juice and chopped kothmir phudina 😋😋 This is a simple recipe , we just cook everything together no making of different gravy.
