American Chopsuey
Hey guys i love American chopsuey but i find the one at restaurants a bit too sweet on the tongue. So always make it my way at home . If u love indo chinese ur gonna love this recipe in sha Allah.( fact. Its actually an american pasta dish but because it tastes like Chinese i call it chinese🙈🤣) So firstly heat little oil in a vessel and saute , 2 tbsp chopped garlic , half tbsp chopped ginger , 1 small chopped onion , 2 green chillies chopped. Add salt , 1 tsp white pepper powder, 1 stock cube , and about 300 gms of chopped chicken , saute little and add 1 fist each of carrot julienne and sliced cabbage . Add 4 tomatoes made to puree ( simply grind and strain) add 1 cup tomato ketchup , 5 tbsp red chilli sauce ,2 tbsp shezwan sauce, 3 tbsp soya sauce , 1 tbsp vinager , 2 tbsp sugar , saute and add 4-5 glasses of water . Cook for 5 mins and add slurry of 4 tbsp cornflour mixed with 1 cup water . Cook till thick and add 1 onion cubed ( its better to use the spring onion bulbs if u have ) add 1 capcicum cut to cubes , cook more 2 mins and add some chopped springonion greens and cook for 2 mins . In restaurants they also put pineapple cubes but i dont put as i dont like the sweetflavour it gives u can add if u wish . ( i dont add ajinomotto to my food u can add if u like)
For the noodles boil hakka noodles , strain and wash with cold water and deep fry till golden and crisp. Sometimes i also take ready fried noodles from null bazar it gives a really nice texture and taste
I usually keep the noodles and gravy separately on the serving table. Take a fistful of noodles in your plate and put desired amount of gravy n enjoy.
